There are three types of fires. Bonfires and Campfires can be controlled. Forest fires however are out of control.

Sometimes you can see the fire in someone's eyes or on their faces. What kind of fire do you have in your mind? Forest fires are out of control and destructive.

Watch out for the fires in your mind. Keep your mouth off other people and off of yourself. Remember, we can do all things through Christ. Remember God will supply all of your needs according to the riches in Christ Jesus. Remember we are the head and not the tail. Pull every thought into captivity.

  • Genesis 17 - God tells Abram what He is going to do in Him and through Him. God changes his name and his wife's name. In verse 17 Abraham laughed at the idea that God would provide him a child.
  • Genesis 18 - In verse 12 and 13, Sarah laughed at the same idea. Later she tried to deny laughing.

We have to be careful and renew our minds - trust God when He says He will do something. Do you have that kind of fire in your camp - to believe God?

    • Numbers 13:2, 17-  God already promised them the land. Moses sent them to spy out the land. The people who went to spy out the land started to doubt because of the people there. They came back with a forest fire - words of fear - one that would spread and cause pain instead of trust. In verse 30, Caleb had more of a bonfire, telling truth of God's word and promise. He believed.  We see this over and over.

Don't let anyone tell you differently from what God has already said. Remember what God has said. It's up to you to put out the forest fire of lies even if others are the ones that started it. In verse 32, there were still ten scared individuals who gave a poor report. Don't let people push your buttons.

If you can't be in agreement with the Word of God, you can't be in agreement with yourself. We are all going through something, but need to remember the Word of God. We can't walk by sight and meditate on what's happening in life because that fire will get bigger and bigger and out of control. Be careful what you say. God told you what He would do - believe Him.

  • Joshua 2 - Joshua sent two men to spy the land and Rahab received them and asked to be saved. She believed God.
  • Joshua 6:8-10 - Joshua instructed them on when to open their mouth - they were not permitted to even say a word because before things are complete, we are likely to complain.

Sometimes when we are looking with our eyes, we can start a forest fire with our mouths. All you need is one person to start a forest fire in your life. Either you put that out with the Word of the Lord, or it just takes over your mind. Stay silent until you are ready to praise God for what He has done.
