The Power of the Name of Jesus

Only one name can change things. That's why when we pray, we end by saying "In Jesus' name."

In Philippians 2:9, we read that God has highly exalted the name of Jesus, above ALL names. 

'Because of that, God raised Jesus Christ to the most important place. God gave him the name that is greater than every other name. As a result, when people hear Jesus' name, they must worship him. Everyone will have to go down on their knees in front of him. That includes everything that is in heaven, everything on the earth and everything under the earth. Everyone will say that Jesus Christ is Lord . This will give great honour to God the Father. So, my friends, you must continue to obey. When I was with you, you always obeyed. Now that I am not with you, that is even more important. God has saved you. You must always live in a way which shows that this is true. Respect God and remember his great power. Philippians 2:9-11

The name of Jesus doesn't just identify a person, but it brings powerful changes with it!

1. His name is SO powerful that healing comes with His name.
   1. Acts 3:6 - Peter declares the name of Jesus to gift healing to the lame man. He declares to the man "rise up". Peter took the man by the hand and lifted him up and immediately, his body received strength. He didn't just stand, but he was then leaping and praising God.
   2. What healing are you looking for as you call on the name of Jesus?
2. His name is so powerful that deliverance comes with His name.
   1. Mark 16:17 'These miracles will happen when people believe in me. On my behalf, they will send bad spirits out of people. They will speak new languages. '
   2. What are you looking to be delivered from in the name of Jesus?
3. His name is so powerful that victory comes through His name

   1. 'Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. ' - Psalm 23:5

   2. In what area of your life do you need victory in the name of Jesus?
4. His name is so powerful, that at that name, Jesus saves.
   1. Only through the name of Jesus can you be saved from being eternally separated from God.

      'For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ' Romans 10:13

Everyone carries a name, but it doesn't always carry power. Titles might carry authority, but the name of Jesus is the authority of heaven and brings eternal power.

His name is the one that we must all rely on. When we call on the name of Jesus, He will bring changes.
