Psalm 37

Life is not always easy. Sometimes we face difficult circumstances and when things are rough, we need to go to God.

Psalm 146:3-4 says ' Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. '

God is the one who gives us the breath that we breathe to have life and so if He gives us that, then He is the one we will put our trust in for everything. God's done it before and He will do it again. He never fails and He doesn't change.

At this time in society, your relationship with God is SUPER IMPORTANT. If you put your trust in God, you're going to be alright. Things are not easy and they won't get easier but God doesn't forsake the righteous.

Jeremiah 12:1-5 - God tells Jeremiah that there are greater and more difficult things coming, but God promises to be with His children and take care of their needs.

Proverbs 3:5-6 " ' Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.'

Where does your help come from? In Psalm 121:1-2, David asked that question and knew his help would come from the LORD who made heaven and earth! He is LORD of all! We need not fear because we will not lose anything.

So why are you focusing on things on this earth that are temporary? Don't focus on things more than God. He is LORD (master) over all.

Psalm 37 - In this chapter, the psalmist reminds us that we need not be concerned with what evil doers do because we will all fade like grass. He tells us to continue to do good. (Even though Joseph's brothers had abandoned him, he still did good to them. - Genesis 42) - Remember your past will not dictate your future.

  1. Be happy with God. (Psalm 37:4) - The LORD alone should make us happy and His grace should make us even more excited, sufficient to cover all out needs. But when we enjoy Him, He will give us the desires of our heart.
    1. How do you enjoy the LORD?
  2. Commit to the LORD & trust in Him. (Psalm 37:5) - When we give ourselves fully to the LORD and trust Him, He will do all the things we need. He will make things right.
    1. In what area do your life do you need to fully trust God?
  3. Rest in the LORD. (Psalm 37:7) - God wants us to rest in Him and wait patiently for Him, not look at and worry over the people who do evil things. We don't need to focus on the wickedness.
    1. What area of your life is God calling you to patiently rest as He works?
  4. Don't be angry and do not worry. (Psalm 37:8) - We don't need to be angry or worried.
    1. (Psalm 37:9-23) Because God will make all things right and you will have peace. The wicked will fall down and be no more. In the days when there is not enough, the children of the LORD will be satisfied. God will work all things out, even when we fall. God NEVER forsakes the righteous.
