Philippians 2:9-11

The enemy doesn't want you to be who you are, but there is power in the name of Jesus.

God has never failed us.

Philippians 2:9 - There is NO name in heaven or on earth throughout all eternity that is greater than the name of Jesus. His name is above every name! GREATER!

Philippains 2:10 - Says every knee is obligated to bow

Philippians 2:11 - (Isaiah7:14, John 3:16) - every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is LORD and only by His name are we saved or have anything good.

The same God who has this power has given us the right to use the name of Jesus. And in that name, there is power to save, to heal, to restore. Thank God for that power to use that name with authority against the enemy!

  • Acts 1:8 - You will receive power and not be silent, but use your tongue to confess the truth about who God is!
  • Matthew 8:5-10 - We know the authority of Jesus and He needs only speak a word without even moving. He has given us that authority through the power of the Holy Spirit to use the name of Jesus, which is the name above all names.

The moment you surrender to God and subject your name to His authority, He gives you permision to use His name. But in using His name, He will check you to make sure you are appropriately using it.

    1. The name of Jesus brings salvation - Acts 4:12 tells us only Jesus can save people. The name of Jesus is the only name that can rescue us, clean up our name, and restore our character. That name follows you now that you've adopted it, so when you sin, you are taking that Name with you! - Only Jesus can save.
      1. Matthew 5:14-16 says the only way that we can help people meet Jesus is by pointing to Him with our lives and our words. We are supposed to let our lights shine inside and outside of church.
    2. The name of Jesus has ALL authority -  Matthew 28:18 tells us that Jesus was given all power and authority and if we have been adopted into that name, then we inherit that authority. We must use that authority in prayer for our people in the midst of turmoil and painful circumstances.
      1. It's time to use that authority with the ideas God's given you to implement a plan to make Him known.
    3. The name of Jesus brings healing and deliverance - Acts 3:6 - Peter tells a lame man to walk in the name of Jesus - without anything but the name of Jesus, the man started to walk.
    4. The name of Jesus has power over devils - Matthew 8:28-32 tells us that Jesus encountered two men possessed with devils. The devils asked if Jesus was going to torment them before their time and asked if they could be cast out into the pigs. Jesus said one word: "go". The name of Jesus has power over devils.

There's an old song that says "don't let the devil ride because then he will want to drive. If you give him and inch, he will take a mile."

Flee the devil, resist him. Spend time in the Word. Memorize scripture. When we tell the devil to flee, he must flee in the name of Jesus and he will die. God will deal with him. All we need to do is use our authority.
