We all know what it feels like when we lose someone to death. Have you ever felt hopeless. There are times when life feels like "Good Friday" - it's painful, hopeless, and dark, but Sunday is coming!
Jesus came to bring resurrection life. From the beginning of scripture, God promised that death would not have the final word. Through Jesus Christ, God fulfilled that promise.
- Jesus is the source of resurrected life. In John 11, Martha and Mary were grieving the death of their brother, Lazarus. Martha knew Jesus was powerful, but she was attributing His power to the future resurrection. Jesus clarifies that He is ALL powerful always and that He is currently the resurrection. The resurrection is found in the person of Jesus. Read Isaiah, Ezekiel 37 God brings dry bones back to life. Daniel 12:2 - all of which point to Jesus who has authority over physical, spiritual, emotional, and eternal death. Jesus can bring your dead situation to life.
- Jesus proves resurrection life through His own life. After Jesus was crucified, buried, and placed in a tomb, it appeared that death had won. When the women went to care for his body on the third day, the angels told them Jesus was not there. The resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of our Christian faith. 1 Corinthians 16:17 Death, sin, satan, has all been defeated and eternal life is available to all. We need not fear death because it is not longer a prison, but a doorway into the presence of God for the believer.
- God brings life out of death, peace out of chaos, joy from suffering, purpose from pain, victory is coming! God knows what to do when things seem dark and painful.
- Jesus offered resurrection life to everyone who believes. Jesus rose to offer eternal life to everyone. Read John 3:16. Eternal life is available to the guilty, fearful, broken, bruised, sinners, saints, sick, weary, depressed, in the valley or the mountain. No one is beyond God's grace. God knows where you are. When you place your faith in Jesus, you can receive eternal life, forgiveness, and have hope beyond the grave.
- Romans 8:11 - God's resurrection power is not just for the end day but for right now. Jesus can revive your faith, restore your joy, renew your purpose, and transform your future.
Where have you put your trust? Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. Do you trust in the One who has resurrection power?
Jesus asked Martha "do you believe this?"
Reflection: Do you believe that Jesus can restore you, open up doors that have been shut, make ways out of no way, do the impossible, bring light into your dark situation, change your heart, home, financial status, touch your body, raise you up from ANYTHING?
Jesus is the resurrection and life. Because Jesus lives, you can face tomorrow.
